As a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the overnight stays of international tourists in Finland dropped by 68 percent during the year 2020. The overnight stays of Swedes decreased most, by almost 82 percent compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. Furthermore, the overnight stays of tourists from China declined by 80 percent compared to 2019, followed Japan with a decrease of 77 percent.
The source adds the following information: "These figures are preliminary data from Statistics Finland’s statistics on accommodation establishments and they have been collected from accommodation establishments with at least 20 beds or caravan pitches with electricity connection."
