Traffic congestion has decreased significantly in Latin America due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Some of the region's main metropolitan areas have reported a decrease in vehicle traffic of more than 80 percent in recent weeks. For example, the São Paulo metropolitan area reported a decrease in traffic congestion of 88 percent in the week of March 23-29 2020, in comparison to the vehicle traffic reported a couple of weeks earlier.
