Monthly passenger traffic of Avianca Holdings 2019-2021, by route type
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of air passengers transported by the affiliated airlines of Avianca Holdings S.A. plummeted in April 2020 to only 160 domestic travelers. Between May and August of that same year, the Colombian airline's passenger traffic showed slight increases, though remaining below 13 thousand per month. Since the Colombian government authorized the resumption of commercial airline operations in September 2020, the number of Avianca air travelers had gone up steadily but it is still far from the levels recorded in the months prior to the coronavirus crisis.
