Gasoline prices increased worldwide in the first half of 2022, a consequence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the tightening of fossil fuels market. In Latin America, Panama reported the largest impact, with the average price per liter increasing by 65 percent between January and June 2022. Ecuador and Colombia were the only two countries displayed which registered a decline in prices. However in 2023 the average price per liter has remained relatively stable.
An opposite trend was observed in 2020, when gasoline prices decreased in Latin American countries because of the travelling restrictions brought in by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2020 and 2021, the price change is calculated in comparison to the same period of the previous year. In 2022 and 2023, the price change is calculated between January and June.
Figures for 2020 were retrieved from a previous release of the publication.
