According to the report on the prevalence of diabetes in China, about 9.98 percent of the adults were diagnosed with diabetes by fasting blood glucose, Hemoglobin A1C level, and medical history, higher than the 5.48 percent who were diagnosed by only fasting blood glucose and medical history.

52.4 percent male and 47.6 percent female;
32.2 percent from East China, 15.6 percent from Central China, 14.6 percent from Southwest China,12.5 percent from South China,10.9 percent from North China, 8.6 percent from Northeast China and 5.6 percent from Northwest China.

Diabetes defined as fasting blood glucose equal to or higher than 7 mmol/L, or Hemoglobin A1C level equal or higher than 6.5 percent, or with a history of diagnosis of diabetes.
