A survey of Indonesian consumer behavior during Ramadan in 2019 found that 16 percent of the respondents were willing to spend more than 50 percent of their annual spending for Ramadan. In comparison, the highest share of the respondents, 24 percent, were willing to spend between 10 and 20 percent of their annual spending. During Ramadan, there is usually an increase in spending among Indonesian Muslims. This is driven in part by the 13th month salary that every employee receives.
