Share of COVID-19 cases that will require hospital care in Australia in 2020 by age
In 2020, it was estimated that 65.9 percent of people over the age of 65, who contracted the novel coronavirus, would require hospitalization in Australia. Furthermore almost 20 percent of cases in this age group were expected to be treated in an intensive care unit. People under the age of 30 required far less medical attention than the older age groups, with less than one percent of younger people predicted to be admitted to hospital.
