In 2023, the Universal Coverage Scheme (UCS) budget accounted for around 6.4 percent of the national budget in Thailand. The UCS is also known as the “golden card”. It allows Thai people to access medical care and treatment in public hospitals at a cost as low as 30 Thai baht, or around one U.S. dollar.
