Consumer Price Index in French overseas regions Q1 2017-Q3 2023
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the third quarter of 2023, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased in the seven French overseas regions observed. In the third quarter of 2023, it was high in Guadeloupe (114.02). In contrast, it was lower in New Caledonia (104.78).
INSEE defines the consumer price index (CPI) as the instrument for measuring inflation, making it possible to estimate, between two given periods, the average change in the prices of products consumed by households. It is based on the observation of a fixed basket of goods and services, updated each year. Each product is weighted in the overall index in proportion to its weight in household consumption expenditure.
