YoY change in container shipping volumes worldwide by route 2019-2020

In the first half of 2020, container shipping volumes on all major trade routes went down compared to the first half of 2019. In the second half of 2020, however, the volumes bounced back, surpassing the container shipping volumes from the second half of 2019 on the selected trade routes. Narrowing down on full-year results of 2020, the only significant decline in container shipping volumes compared to 2019 occurred on the Far East to Europe trade route. The shipping volume on this route contracted by some 5.5 percent.
