Food and beverage spending in the Netherlands decreased rapidly in April 2020, after peaking March. In week 11, Dutch consumers spent over 25 percent more on food and beverages than in the same week the year before. Around Easter, however, this had decreased to over 20 percent less spending than in Easter 2019. The coronavirus had a major impact on consumer spending in this period.
