Share of population reporting unmet medical needs in Italy 2017
According to a study conducted in 2017, it appeared that 1.8 percent of the population in Italy reported unmet medical needs. This figure seems pretty low. However, an analysis based on the income of the population showed that high income individuals rarely reported unmet medical needs (0.4 percent). On the other hand, 4.6 percent of the population with a low income declared having had unmet medical needs for an examination or treatment due to costs, distance to travel, or waiting times.
