Most popular devices for playing video games in Hungary 2023

According to the results of the survey conducted among Hungarian gamers in 2023, 75 percent of respondents played games on their smartphone, making it the most popular device for gaming. At the same time, approximately 37 percent of gamers played on their laptops, while a further 31 percent of surveyed Hungarians used desktop computers.

Gamers’ demographics

As of 2020, over half of Hungarian women and nearly 70 percent of men played video games on their PCs, laptops, mobile phones, consoles, or tablets. Survey results showed that gaming was not only a hobby for younger generations, but a considerable share of elderly Hungarians played video games as well.

eSports market

The continuously growing Hungarian eSports market is estimated to have generated a revenue worth nearly 71 billion forints in 2023, with hardware and peripheral sales accounting for the biggest share of the profit. Considering the leading eSport games, in 2020, League of Legends proved to be the most popular with Hungarian gamers, followed by Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
