Because of the effects of the COVID-19 coronavirus, global year-to-date chemical production declined by 1.8 percent as of August 2020 as compared to the previous year. Chemical production has increased in five category during 2020, however year-to-date global chemical production declined in the rest of categories. Coatings production has decreased by the largest margin so far in 2020, at 25.8 percent as of August.
