As of 2019, the turnover of all officially certified products sold at PLUS supermarkets in the Netherlands was more than 307 million euros. This was an increase of approximately 35 percent compared to 2017. In addition, two new certificates were introduced for fish and seafood products: MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) and ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council). Beter Leven, which monitors animal living conditions, has been the most popular, and also the fastest-growing certificate in the time period indicated. The organic and sustainable food market in the Netherlands has been growing in recent years.
