Green bin usage in the region of Waterloo, Canada amounted to approximately 21,000 metric tons in 2017. This was more than double the volume collected in the previous year. In 2018, collection rates increased further, rising to a record breaking 25,000 metric tons.

- Some paper products, such as greasy take-out paper packaging, paper baking cups, shredded paper

- Houseplants, cut flowers waste, natural greenery from wreaths (remove pots, wire, decorations)
- Wooden toothpicks, wooden stir sticks (for stirring coffee)
