Internal migrant population share in India 2001-2011 by type

India's migrant population amounted to about 450 million in 2011, a tremendous increase from 309 million in 2001. This was largely made up of intra-district movement at over 60 percent. Inter-district movement had increased since 1991, while it decreased for inter-state migration.
