The outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic in Poland in March 2020 changed the purchasing behavior of the society. Between the third and fourth week of the so-called national quarantine, the traffic in shops fell by over 14 percent, while before Easter, the footfall increased by 18 percent.

* The monitoring lasted for five weeks of the so-called national quarantine, i.e. from March 9 to April 12. A total of 972,462 adult Poles were observed. The analysis covered 23 retail chains, including hypermarkets, discounters, supermarkets, convenience and cash&carry (16 746 outlets in total), as well as 8 nationwide brands of fuel stations (3 491 facilities in total) in all voivodships.
