Volume of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by BNP Paribas 2017-2020

By 2021, BNP Paribas have set the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions per full-time employee to 2.41 ton equivalent CO2, a target they are well within reaching based on 2020's results. BNP Paribas also saw a sharp reduction in its total volume of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) between 2019 and 2020. The bank sees three main objectives to reduce GHG emissions: energy efficiency of buildings, IT equipment, and optimizing business travel. The definitions attributed by the bank to each scope include;

Scope 1 - Direct emissions related to burning fossil fuels.
Scope 2 - Indirect emissions related to the consumption of imported energy.
Scope 3 - Indirect mobility-related emissions.
