During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the sales of over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare items increased in Italy. In the week from March 9 to 15, the sales value of OTC products grew by 30 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. As a consequence of the rising number of cases, on March 9, the Italian government announced that the country is in lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. On May 4, Italy started easing its coronavirus lockdown.
