Music streaming spending increase due to the coronavirus U.S. 2020, by ethnicity
According to two surveys held in March 2020, consumers in all ethnic groups were likely to spend more on music streaming services as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, with 18 percent of Hispanic adults saying that they believed they would do so, as well as 15 percent of African Americans. Between the two surveys, the WHO declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic as more and more cases were reported around the globe, and measures were introduced to curb the spread of the disease. This could go some way in explaining the increase in consumers who intended to spend more on music streaming between March 6 to 9 and the following week, by which point more people had begun to self-isolate and spend more time at home.
