According to a survey on the status of truck drivers in India, majority of the truck drivers stated that they rarely used mobile phones while driving on highways as of February 2020. Usage of mobile phones sometimes while driving was reported by over 89 percent of drivers from Ahmedabad. Truck drivers stated that they sometimes used phones while driving to take calls from the fleet owners and consigners for updates or to call friends and family as they are usually away from home for many days.
