According to a survey on the status of truck drivers in India, drugs were used by 22 percent of truck drivers on average while on a trip across the country in 2020. More than half of the drivers from the cities of Kolkata, Kanpur and Delhi used drugs during driving across the country. Truck drivers seemed to use drugs to ease fatigue and avoid sleepiness on their long tedious drives.
