Italy: top female tennis players by WTA Race score 2020

As of August 2020, Camila Giorgi was the Italian female tennis player registering the highest score in the WTA Race To Shenzhen Leaderboard ranking, recording a total of 382 points.

As specified by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), the WTA Rankings and the Porsche Race to Shenzhen Leaderboard points are the same, however calculated in a different way. In fact, the WTA Rankings takes into account the players' best tournament results over the preceding 52 weeks. On the other hand, the Porsche Race to Shenzhen Leaderboard is based on the results of a single year. In 2020, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the WTA Race To Shenzhen Leaderboard was cancelled.

Unlike the WTA Rankings, which take into account points earned during a rolling 52-week period, the Porsche Race to Shenzhen Leaderboard only calculates points earned during the current season.

For singles, players must include points earned from the four Grand Slams and four Premier Mandatory tournaments – Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and Beijing – among their best 16 results. In addition, singles players must play four of the five Premier 5 tournaments – Doha, Rome, Cincinnati, Montreal and Wuhan – counting their best two results from those tournaments''.
