BBVA: share of energy coming from renewable sources globally 2018-2020

In 2018, Banco Bilbao Viszcaya Argentaria (BBVA) joined a growing number of the world's largest banks in making a commitments to sustainable financing and investments to help projects, technologies, and clean energies in delivery of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). These SDG's also included other commitments such as carbon, water and waste reduction as well as renewable energy sourcing.

Under The Global Eco-Efficiency Plan, BBVA has committed to obtain all of its energy consumption from renewable energy by 2030, 70 percent by 2025. In 2020, BBVA sourced 48 percent of its global energy from renewable sources, a considerable increase from the previous years.
