As a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the global hotel market has already taken a huge hit. In the week ending March 21, 2020, the country that saw the largest drop in occupancy was Italy - dropping as much as 96 percent when compared to the previous year. The source country of the virus, China, saw occupancy drop year-over-year by 68 percent.
