There have been almost 60 thousand COVID-19 deaths in New York State as of December 16, 2022. A majority of those deaths have been recorded in New York City: Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Manhattan.

Pandemic takes hold in U.S.

Across the United States, over one million COVID-19 deaths had been confirmed by the middle of December 2022. New York has been hit particularly hard throughout the pandemic and is among the states with the highest number of deaths from the coronavirus.
