Green bonds were created as an instrument to earmark finance for climate and environmental projects. Since the issue of the first green bond in 2007, the green bond market has been growing. On the Euronext stock exchange, the euro was the most prevalent currency for green bond listing. In 2023, 234 out of the total 406 green bonds listed, or 58 percent, were listed in euro.
