According to the Economic Times survey in 2019, about 65 percent of respondents wanted to move out of metro cities to a tier 2 or 3 city in India. Whereas, 13 percent of the respondents did not want to move out of their metro city. Metro cities are attractive in terms of better infrastructure and connectivity, higher paying jobs and better medical facilities.
Since 2014, there are eight metros in India - Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Pune.

Note: Government of India has divided the cities across the country according to their development, population and infrastructure.
Tier 1 cities are metropolitan cities which are developed and cost of living is comparatively high.
Tier 2 cities are more developed than tier 3 cities, well connected with luxury amenities and big shopping complexes and facilities are available.
Tier 3 cities are semi urban and lacking good facilities but cost of living is cheap.
