The week before the UK government announced lockdown measures to combat the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, consumers made more trips to various retail stores compared to the previous month. In the week ending March 17, 2020, visits to health and beauty stores increased by 25 percent. Likewise, both pet stores and bargain retailers saw more than 25 percent month-on-month increase in consumer trips.
