As of March 2020, the majority of Hungarians agreed that parlamentrarians should put aside their differences and accept the coronavirus law enabling Viktor Orbán to rule by decree indefinitely because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Only 24 percent of respondents thought that such a law would give too much power to the government and therefore should not be accepted. The law was passed on March 30, 2020.
