Brazil: growth rate of retail revenue 2020, by subsector

From March 1 to August of 2020, the Brazilian retail sector registered nominal revenue decreases in all its subsectors in comparison to February of the same year. Durable goods retail suffered a drop of 30.6 percent in nominal revenue while services registered the strongest revenue decline, with 60.8 percent. The non-durable good retail subsector in Brazil reported the smallest decrease in revenue for the same period, with only -0.8 percent. These variations are believed to be associated with the change in shopping behavior due to the spread of COVID-19 in Brazil.
