Retail sales index of clothing in Denmark 2019-2021

At the beginning of 2020 the retail index, measured against a baseline of 2015, was at 88. This addresses the period before the major closings in the retail sector due to COVID-19. However, following the COVID-19 outbreak, retail sales rapidly declined, with index levels of 45 and 37.4 recorded for March and April 2020, respectively. In the second half of 2020, monthly retail sales index registered relatively normal levels but again experienced sharp drops in the beginning of 2021 where second COVID-19 lockdown measures were in place. As of October 2021, the retail sales index stood at 112.4.
