During a representative survey of the British adult population, undertaken between the 16th and 17th March 2020, respondents were asked about their preferred approach to deciding the winners and losers of any sports leagues, competitions or tournaments that have been suspended or paused as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The second largest share, with 29 percent of respondents, indicated that should sporting league fixtures have to be completely cancelled the winners and losers should be calculated by the league according to the likelihood of who would win the remaining, unfulfilled fixtures. In contrast, the largest share of respondents hold the opinion that there should be no winners or losers recognised this year.
