U.S. oil import displacement by ethanol 2007-2019
The oil imports displaced by the ethanol production in the United States has increased significantly in recent years. In 2007, around 231 million barrels of oil were displaced in the U.S. by domestic ethanol production. By 2019 this figure grew to 559 million barrels of oil displaced.
