The source provides a statistic with the overall online shopping activites for marketplaces and hightech products in France, after the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, during the time period between the 24th of February and 29th of March 2020, compared to the numbers generated before the outbreak from January 6th to February 16th 2020. For the week up until the 15th of March, the results for the online traffic showed a growth decline of about 15 percent. The average duration of a session also fell by around one to two percent and the page visits per sessions by around 11 percent. The conversion rate saw a rise of 28.74 percent and the number of purchase sessions grew as well, by 9.73 percent.
The following week, the conversion rate continued to grow to about 46 percent and the total conversion was at 42.83, compared to the week in January.
During the week between the 23rd and 29th of March, the overall traffic was higher than the previous week (almost 11 percent) and compared to the week in January. The average session duration performed worse as well as the total conversion, which decreased by less than one percentage point.
The source also calculated the online activity for all industries and came with the results of an overall rise of about 13 percent in online traffic, up until the 22nd or March, 2020.
