The source has analyzed overall online activites for online travel and tourism agencies, after the outbreak of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in France during the time period betweenthe 24th of February and 29th of March 2020, compared to the numbers generated before the outbreak from January 6th to February 16th 2020. During th week up until the 15th of March, the results for the online traffic showed a decline of 25 percent. The average duration of a session also declined by around 17 percent and the page visits per sessions by around 15 percent. Conversion rates and the number of purchase sessions also saw a downfall in activity. Notably, The number of purchase sessions fell down to approximately 33 percent.
The following week, the numbers fell even more with a downfall of almost 70 percent for the traffic and around 82 percent for the total conversion, compared to January 2020.
During the week between the 23rd and 29th of March, the overall traffic reached an all time low (-78.66 percent), compared to the previous weeks and the week in January. The average session duration improved a little, whereas the total conversion continued to decline by around 91 percent.
The source had analyzed the online activity for other categories such as online fashion retailers, who also reported a recess in the development.
