According to a survey conducted in March 2020, more than 57 percent of respondents in Japan agreed to the suggestion that the consumtion tax should be reduced considering the global pandemic outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Some government parties in Japan insisted that this measure should be carried out to stimulate the economy in the country.
