Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients in ICU in Italy as of January 2025, by region
After entering Italy, the coronavirus (COVID-19) spread fast and the cases reported reached over 26.9 million as of January 1, 2025. This has put under a lot of pressure the health system. As of the same date, the number of coronavirus patients treated in Intensive Care Units (ICU) was 42, with Emilia-Romagna reporting 12 individuals under such treatment. The region with the highest number of cases in the country, however, was Lombardy.
In the last months, the country saw the end to this terrible situation: as of November 2023, roughly 85 percent of the total Italian population was fully vaccinated.
