In the last week of February 2020, Chile reported a sales growth of 800 percent in face masks. Antibacterial gel also registered sales growth, with an increase of 29 percent during that same period. The growing demand of this type of products is believed to be associated with the COVID-19 outbreak, caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).
