In a survey held between March 11 and 15, 2020, during the novel coronavirus pandemic, 41 percent of respondents in Australia had experienced food shortages or were unable to purchase essential items at local shops in the past week. While experiencing shortages was the most common impact experienced by respondents, only 23 percent admitted to engaging in some form of food and essential stockpiling.
