According to a survey conducted in South Korea in May 2023, around 49 percent of South Korean respondents stated that the president and the government of South Korea have reacted appropriately to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. A further 39 percent were dissatisfied, with the rest being uncertain. While these figures have fluctuated over the months, satisfaction was higher at the beginning of the pandemic, and has generally been decreasing as time continued to pass. While President Moon Jae-in was in office during the beginning of the pandemic, newly elected President Yoon Suk-yeol took over in early May of 2022.
