According to a survey conducted in November 2019, approximately 14.5 percent of surveyed Japanese aged 18 to 29 years old thought that refugees and people in need of humanitarian care should be accepted more proactively by Japan from now on, while an additional 22.1 percent of the same age group were in favor of rather proactive measures. This added up to 34.6 percent, making the youngest surveyed age group the one most likely to share this mindset.
