In 2019, the public service broadcasting company Yle reached the majority of Finnish people regardless of their educational background. According to the survey, the second most popular source of news was the TV channel MTV3 with the average share of 55 percent of the audience. However, the survey found that public broadcaster Yle was around ten percent more popular among those with higher level of education, while MTV3 news offline and online reached more often those with lower level of education. Facebook was more widely used than MTV3 news online by all groups.

"Educational levels across countries have been categorized in a comparative way. Those with ‘low’ levels of formal education are those who have at most completed lower secondary education (GCSEs in the UK or equivalent level). Those in the ‘medium’ category have at most completed post-secondary education (generally vocational/professional qualification in the UK) and those in the ‘high’ category have completed short-cycle tertiary education programmes or hold university degrees."
