The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) in Japan planned a total budget of 810 billion Japanese yen from fiscal year 2017 to 2020 for measures related to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. This was an additional cost to the budget of 597 billion yen announced in the fourth version of the budget plan by the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG). 436 billion yen were to be utilized for operations closely related to the opening of the Olympics and Paralympics, such as renovations of gymnasiums, maintenance of the transport infrastructure, and installation of universal design systems.
