In 2018, the most popular locations to buy fish and seafood during Lent and Easter in Mexico City were convenience stores. According to a survey, 39.8 percent of respondents chose this category of shops as their main purchase location for this kind of product. Around 23.2 percent of the Mexicans surveyed preferred to buy fish and seafood at public markets, whereas 14.6 percent reported shopping at the Nueva Viga market (the largest seafood market in Mexico) or the Central de Abasto.
