In 2021, new bulk carrier deliveries in the global merchant fleet amounted to nearly 21.2 million gross tons. With almost 13.8 million gross tons, Chinese shipyards had the largest output that year. Japan delivered over 5.7 million gross tons of bulk carriers in 2021.
