According to a survey conducted in November 2019, close to 70 percent of respondents in Japan stated that they would watch live shows of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games on TV at home. Only twelve percent of the respondents were willing to watch the games at the game venues. The reason could be that it was too difficult to obtain tickets for the games. The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) in Japan started the ticket lottery for people in Japan in May 2019 and the results were out in the following month.
