In China, home ownership is commonly considered to be important before marriage. According to a survey on the dating culture in China conducted in 2019, over 70 percent of the single respondents who were born after 1990 stated that they wanted to buy a property before getting married. In that survey, over 80 percent of the female respondents perceived owning a property as a prerequisite for marriage.
