Number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Denmark since April 2020

On January 16, 2023, Denmark registered 154 new confirmed coronavirus cases. The total number of infections in Denmark reached almost 3.4 million as of January 16. The first case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Denmark was confirmed on February 28, 2020. December 2021 and early 2022 saw COVID-19 cases in Denmark reach a record high.

 The novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

The novel coronavirus was first detected in the Hubei Province of China at the end of December 2019 and was officially declared as a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. As of January 9, 2023, the number of coronavirus cases reached over 668 million worldwide.

 Coronavirus infections in Danish regions

The Capital Region of Denmark, where Copenhagen is located, had the highest number of coronavirus cases of all the regions in the country. The Capital Region of Denmark is the largest in terms of population, with around 1.8 million inhabitants. As of August 10, the number of confirmed infected in the Capital Region reached over one million. Region Central Denmark had the second highest number of registered cases, reaching a total of 733 thousand.
